The Lady is Not Forgtton

It has come to my attention that very soon I will no longer be able to write about The Lady. Don't worry she's still alive and kickin'! I just saw her a few days ago. Looking very chic in all her Awesomeness I might add. But the fact is, I'm moving on July 1. Away from a neighborhood that has treated me well, my beloved Frank's Market and of course The Lady! So this blogs original purpose has an expiration date!
Here is what I propose to do:
Continue to write about The Lady as much as possible in my final Washington Heights days. (for real this Time as i now know how to do this from my handy dandy iphone.) I will document her awesomeness with utmost attention.
Then, this blog will turn into my adventures.
Henceforth, The Lady will be referred to as Lady A. The original. The Classic. Like coca-cola.
And I will be Lady B. Number 2. The second. Like Bea Arthur. (totally sweet) Why not Lady M, you ask. As that makes sense given my name? Because that is Scottish Shakespearian tragedy I'm not willing to copy or emulate. Just a bad idea.
Once this blog turns into my adventures I will continue to include sightings of really awesome ladies. They will also get totally cool and outrageous outfit names! Maybe I'll be able to snag more photos. And maybe just maybe I'll recreate these outfits in a totally chic Lady B kind of way. (More on that later)

For now watch out and keep checking in for the awesomeness to present itself to you on this site of adventure!

Banana-Rama goes Hawaiian

The Lady is back. It's been a while since I have seen her but she is out in full force this fall.

This day, admittedly this photo is not from today, she complimented her head to toe yellow with a red and green hawaiian print shirt. Her banana yellow slacks, long sleeved shirt, rain hat, bag and sandals are all the same exact shade of yellow. This took planning people. And lots of practice.

I am intentionally giving you this teaser/far away photo so that you can fully understand the essence of this woman before you see her too closely. (because I DO have a close up!) Remember, this lady is up there in years but some how manages to look like a model walking down a runway in this photo! Amazing.

Obviously it's been a while since I have posted. This summer has been busy and for a long while I thought I had jinxed myself from ever seeing The Lady again by creating this blog. I even wondered if she was still alive. Death by Blogging? Anything is possible. But I am happy to say she is alive and well.

There are more posts to come. Be on the lookout for more pics! Maybe I'll give you a close up next time.

Welcome to the Adventure

To start with, I am not The Lady. The Lady is an amazing older woman who lives in Washington Heights on this little island known as Manhattan. In this blog I will try to explain this woman's awesomeness. Every time I spot this woman I get butterflies in my tummy and can't help but have an inner joy spread through my soul and to my mouth in the form of a smile. After seeing this woman for the first time, I hoped that I would see her again. And I did. I see her just about every few weeks and each is a new experience.

This woman, The Lady, dresses to the nines everyday. Every outfit has a theme. Complete with accessories, Platinum Blond wigs, jewelry, make-up and heels. We are talking matching hats and bags and wedge espadrille sandals. Did I mention, this woman is at least 80 years old? I can only hope to be that put together and hip as an old lady. Never mind wearing heels Every Day! I don't even do that now. She walks with a bit of a jaunty step but she is quite with it.

I have a suspicion that The Lady is not a native English speaker. Italian Perhaps. Only time will tell. Hopefully I will eventually hear this woman speak or take her photo for you all to see. Maybe I'll even say Hi one day and take a photo With her... I just find her fascinating and want to share it with you.

Here is today's adventure:

Floral Chic Safari

First off, The Lady dons an over sized tan straw hat reminiscent of a boater with a coral colored band. It is, of course, cocked ever so slightly to the left side. Followed by her call sign, a full volume Platinum Blond wig with soft curls that reach just past her shoulders. Today is pretty tame with a brown floral long sleeved Silk Chiffon top. Next is the white, yes WHITE, cropped chinos that hit just above the ankles to show off her brown platform wedge sandals. Her make-up is heavy but her skin is smooth. Which may or may not be all Natural. Given the wig, I would not be surprised by some doctor applied skin firming help. Her lips are lined with a dark brown liner and filled with a matte nude lipstick. Not a choice I would ever rock but she does it with reckless abandon. And that is Floral Chic Safari.

This is a tame and neutral day for The Lady who is normally decked out with so much color that you can see her from a block away.

Safari on.
